This lecture stems from three questions:
What is artistic signature?
What are the sources for artistic signature to be present?
What are the processes for arrival at an artistic signature?
This will be explored in reference to a particular video work reflective of the artist’s signature.

A very experienced artist with a life long journey of innovation and thought given to Dance and Choreography. An exponent figure in the emergence and development of Release and post modern dance in Europe and USA.
She is the author of the concept, ‘Responsible Anarchy’, and she has done extensive research in the area of Open Form Composition and aesthetics.
Mary has served as director of dance for the University of Rochester, New York; Dartington College of Arts, Totnes, Devon, England; SNDO, Amsterdam, NL and EDDC, Arnhem, NL.
She is currently teaching full time at the ArtEZ School of Dance, Arnhem, NL, and continues to do short teaching residencies abroad and create performance work.
She is the author of ‘The Language of the Axis’ and ‘Release: 7 zones of Comprehension’ which includes a number of previously published papers on post-modernism and aesthetics.
