The work of Gilles Deleuze is of particular importance to the new materialist turn that is currently taking place in the various parts of academia but also throughout the arts. Starting from matter-in-movement, new materialism refuses to accept the transcendental as a point of departure but continues to show how all ideas necessarily follow from material constellations (from matter taking up form), the performing arts in particular have been interested in experimenting with new materialist authors.
