Technical (and) improvisation work sessions with Salva Sanchis, Nov. 18th and 19th 2013

We’ll try to improve the fluidity of our actions by 1)establishing a purposeful and clear relation with the floor at all times, and 2)integrating all parts of the body in the action. The kind of movement I am interested in is functional in the first place, and expressive as a consequence. In these sessions we will try precisely to understand the link between functionality and expressive power. We will often use improvisation instead of repetition of set movements in order to understand and apply technical mechanisms in a conscious way; at the same time, a higher technical awareness will allow us to improvise more fluently and with more tools at our disposal.

Salva Sanchis is a Brussels based choreographer, dancer and dance teacher. HIs work privileges pure dance as a communication tool.
